Currently, sesame is being traded at Rs 13,000 per quintal.Amaravati, Yavatmal market committees in Vidarbha are getting sesame seeds. In Amravati, sesame was traded at Rs 11,500 to Rs 12,500 since last week. Market committee secretary Deepak Vijaykar said that the income in Amravati market is in the range of 30 to 35 quintals. An increase in the area under sesame as an alternative to groundnut has also been reported in Amravati district. In this season, sesame in Yavatmal market is getting a rate of 12 thousand 600 to 13 thousand 425 rupees per quintal. Area up to 2 thousand hectares in Darwa Taluka Due to the increase in pest infestation of groundnut, its productivity decreased. Farmers said that they opted for sesame because of the same reason. In Yavatmal district too, sesame is being preferred instead of groundnut.
