    May 14th, 2024

Morbi: Due to strong winds and unseasonal rains in Morbi district on Monday, prepared crops and horticultural crops were damaged in villages of Tankara, Wankaner, Halwad talukas. Regarding this, Laljibhai Makwana of Sajanpar village of Tankara taluka said, I planted sesame in three bighas. 35 to 40 maunds are produced every year. This year too, the crop was ready and on Monday, when the crop was going to be harvested, half of the sesame crop fell horizontally due to wind and rain. Along with the loss of crops in agriculture, the roof of a house in the village was also blown off. Mohammadbhai Sheikh, a progressive farmer who has been cultivating horticulture for years in Teethwa, Wankaner, said, I planted about 240 mangoes in one and a half acres. All of them have lost their fortunes. Besides, a 30 feet tall purple tree has also fallen. Also planted in 3 acres of gourd, chilli, brinjal and cucumber from which the gourd that I got the award withered and other vegetables suffered about 20 percent loss.
