  • The marketing season for sesame crops has begun in the Al-Qadarif crop markets, with (230) thousand sacks of sesame being received (Sudan)

    On Wednesday, the acting governor of Al-Qadarif, Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Hassan, rang the auction bell to market the sesame crop, signaling the opening of the marketing season for the year (2025-2026) and the trading of the crop at the Al-Qadarif crop markets exchange, amidst official and popular participation and farmers’ sectors. During his address at the opening of the marketing season, the Governor of Al-Qadarif praised the farmers and production partners for their efforts to make the agricultural season a success and for their support of the armed forces in the Battle of Dignity. The governor also stressed the government’s commitment to securing the harvest season and paying attention to manufacturing industries, expressing his hope that prices will be rewarding for producers this season to ensure the continuity of production. The Governor of Al-Qadarif stressed the need to complete all sales transactions within the crop market to preserve the rights of the producer and the trader, in addition to following transparency. He directed the security services to prevent crop trading operations outside the markets and to contribute to combating crop smuggling. He said that the imposed fees are reflected in the form of development and service projects. Professor Najat Ahmed Mohamed, Director General of the State Ministry of Finance, indicated that the state government has worked to ensure the success of the agricultural season by establishing agricultural roads to connect production areas with consumption sites. She said that Al-Qadarif had overcome all challenges with the abundant production achieved this season, pointing to the promising signs of the new marketing season, which will provide many revenues for the state, enhance the added value of production, and increase economic returns. Engineer Ammar Abdullah Suleiman, Director General of the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources, praised the role of the Gadarif State government in ensuring the success of the agricultural season and securing harvesting operations. He urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural technologies in all farming processes, from plowing to mechanized harvesting, to increase production and productivity per acre, as well as enhance competitiveness in global agricultural markets. The auction began with a price of 145,000 Sudanese pounds per quintal of sesame.
