Shinsei, a sesame and kinako (roasted soybean flour) company based in City, Aichi Prefecture, will revise the prices of its household and commercial products starting with shipments from August 1st. Although procurement costs have remained unstable due to factors such as the weak yen and changes in the production area, rising crude oil prices and concerns about naphtha supply, resulting from the worsening situation in the Middle East, have exacerbated the price increases for packaging materials and supplies, as well as the uncertainty surrounding future supply. With various costs such as utilities, logistics, and labor costs continuing to rise, we have decided to raise prices. The main products affected and the price increases (compared to current prices) are as follows: for household use, white and hulled sesame products will increase by approximately 1-4%, and black sesame products by approximately 3-7%. Prices for other sesame processed products will be revised according to the proportion of sesame used. Kinako (roasted soybean flour) products will also see price increases of approximately 2-5%. Meanwhile, for commercial use, black sesame products will see a price increase of approximately 2-5%. White sesame and golden sesame products will not be included in this price revision. Other commercial products will also see price increases of approximately 1-3%. Regarding sesame raw material prices, black sesame has not shown any improvement since last autumn, and prices continue to rise due to reduced harvests caused by labor shortages in Myanmar, a major producing region. Prices in other producing regions are also continuing to rise in line with the Myanmar market.
