The local people of Kyaukse Township in Mandalay Region are mainly engaged in agriculture, and various crops are grown in the township. During the current fiscal year's summer crop planting season, summer sesame, an oilseed crop, is planted on more than 46,000 acres throughout the township. According to a report in the May 3rd edition of the Myawaddy newspaper, the local residents of Kyaukse District in Mandalay Region are primarily engaged in agriculture, cultivating various crops. During the current fiscal year's summer crop planting season, summer sesame, an oilseed crop, was planted, covering over 46,000 acres across the district, according to data obtained by the district's Farmland and Real Estate Tax Department. The summer sesame crop is currently thriving. The table below shows the summer sesame planting areas in each district of the district: Among the three counties in the special zone, the area planted with summer sesame is the largest in Mida County, accounting for almost half of the total planting area in the special zone, while the planting area in Jiaoqi County accounts for more than one-third of the total planting area in the special zone. These summer sesame crops are planted from February to March and harvested in June and July. Varieties include white sesame, brown sesame, and black sesame. The farmers' planting costs, including seeds, labor, fertilizers, and pesticides, are approximately 450,000 kyats per acre. Most of the sesame products produced in the designated area are transported to the exchange in Kyaukse Township, and from there to Mandalay and Yangon for sale. Growing this sesame crop not only meets the farmers' demand for edible oil, but also allows any surplus to be sold in other regions. Therefore, farmers plant this summer sesame crop every year.
