Northern-Savanna, Complete Farmer partner to produce 500 acres of organic sesame for export

More than 500 acres of organically cultivated white sesame are expected to be produced for international markets under a new partnership between Northern-Savanna Crops and Tubers Limited and Complete Farmer Limited. The partnership, which combines organic farming with agricultural technology and market expertise, is also expected to create new opportunities for farmers and rural communities in the Upper East Region. Under the agreement, Northern-Savanna will provide tested and serviced organic farmland to growers within the Complete Farmer ecosystem.Complete Farmer will provide market expertise and support to strengthen production and sales, with the aim of helping farmers meet larger orders and access high-value international markets. The two companies say the partnership forms part of a broader effort to position agriculture as a platform for wealth creation, food security and sustainable livelihoods, particularly in rural communities.Northern-Savanna is a woman-owned agricultural enterprise operating in Ghana’s Upper East Region. The company says it has secured 10,000 acres of land for organic farming and is focused on regenerative agriculture, agro-processing, food security, fair wages and creating opportunities for women. Its plans, however, extend beyond sesame production.Northern-Savanna says it is working with international export and logistics organisations to establish an organic crop enclave in the Upper East Region by 2027. The proposed facility is expected to include processing, packaging, warehousing, laboratory and customs-processing facilities, with the aim of supplying markets in Europe, the United Arab Emirates, Asia and the Americas. The company is also undertaking certification and regulatory processes towards becoming a fully certified organic commercial farm. It says the experience and standards developed through the process could help smaller farms adopt similar practices and gain access to international markets. Co-founder Golda N.A. Addo said the ultimate goal was to ensure that African communities not only produced resources for global markets but also benefited economically from them. For Northern-Savanna and Complete Farmer, the partnership represents an effort to connect farming, technology, market access and community development while creating opportunities for Ghanaian farmers to participate in international agricultural markets.
